The Official Site of Piranhaboy
So you're interested in Piranha are you? Well you came to the right place to get the information you seek. If I don't have it here I do have the link for it.
Let me first start by saying that Piranha are not the typical fish, nope, not by a long shot. They have extreme alertness and awareness of their environment. Anything occurring outside the fish tank is considered "their environment" and they behave as such. That is why when sitting and staring at your new piranha usually freaks it out. Most other fish are easily conditioned to associate your presence with food but piranha aren't easily fooled and you could just as easily be trying to poison it or catch it ... as far as the fish is concerned. Paying too much attention won't give you brownie points but allowing the fish's curiosity to pay attention to you instead will pay off.
Piranha are relatively small fish with amazing adaptations for survival in some of the most competetive places on earth, aquatic systems in tropical environments. Survival is always hinging on who is the most dominant and able to take advantage of resources. Few animals can be compared to the piranha as virtually all other animals from the tiniest to the largest can be utilized as food for these efficient carnivores.
Take a look at the fish above. See the intent look in his eyes? Notice the fish's demeanor. This is not what you usually observe in piranha that are kept in aquaria. Quite the opposite actually. "Caged" piranha act like any other caged carnivore such as tigers and lions. When they are taken from the wild and placed in an artificial environment they stress-out terribly. Alleviating this stress means taking a different approach and looking at replicating the natural environment as closely as possible. Patterns of behaviour begin reflecting that found in the wild.
Within these pages you will find many tips on a variety of subjects ranging from housing the maneater Piranha from South America, growing Carnivorous Plants from around the world capable of devouring small animals ranging from tiny flies to frogs and mice, to changing your living space into an Enclosed Ecosystem. I will be linking a blog with many years of observations and tips on how best to get your piranha's "personality" out. Each fish is a unique individual with different responses to human interaction. You will see why the so-called "maneater piranha" is so often timid and frightened in fish stores and most typical aquaria. Setup is vital!
I also have information regarding my own Artwork and Muay Thai martial arts training coming very soon. Later I will be adding tips on Wilderness Survival Techniques.
